THEN, AS EASTERN EUROPEAN JEWS IMMIGRATED TO THE UNITED STATES IN THE 1880’S, THE TRADITION WAS BROUGHT OVERSEAS, REMAINING WITH THE LARGE JEWISH POPULATIONS OF NEW YORK AND CHICAGO.
